Unlocking access to the NHS
Healthcare is not truly free until it is truly accessible. 💙
The world’s best healthcare, for free. It’s not a new idea; it’s called the NHS. But the largest healthcare provider is fundamentally broken. Patient satisfaction is at an all-time low, and the biggest reason cited is lack of access. We’re on a mission to fix it with technology that actually works.
We're building the front door of UK healthcare, creating a future where one billion NHS appointments are transparent and instantly bookable, and patients are guided to the right service first time using AI.
We're developing critical national infrastructure. Today, 26% of GP practices in England use our patient registration software, while one in five GP practices in London use Bookable Search to help new patients find and book appointments seamlessly.
Our latest product, Bookable Navigator, extends this vision by automatically booking appointments for existing patients.
We operate from within a working GP practice in East London. 🏥 We’re backed by Y Combinator, Innovate UK and the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, and were previously ranked the eighth-fastest-growing startup in the UK and 33rd-fastest-growing in Europe. 🚀

The role
We're hiring a mid-level Product Designer to work directly with our CEO and own the design of the Bookable Navigator Inbox. This is where GP practice teams receive, triage and act on every patient request. It is used all day by receptionists, care navigators and clinicians, and every rough edge costs them precious time with patients.
To be clear, this isn't a senior or leadership role. It is for a Designer who has spent three to five years shipping within fast-paced product teams and wants to accelerate their career.
You'll have significant ownership, be expected to stay close to users, and work closely with Engineering. If you are hungry, want to work hard and want a role of a lifetime, we'd love to hear from you.
What you will do
Get close to users
Talk to practice staff regularly: run interviews, sit in on real shifts and watch how the Inbox is used.
Research and scope product tickets before they reach Engineering, so we build the right thing.
Become the user: dogfood the product until you know its friction better than anyone.
Use data
Dig into product metrics to find where people get stuck, then turn that into design work.
Measure whether what you shipped actually made things better.
Design and ship
Take ideas from a scrappy MVP through to polished, high-fidelity design.
Make things simple, beautiful and usable for people working under real-time pressure.
Work side by side with Engineers, from the first sketch to what goes live.
Use AI tools such as Claude every day to research, prototype and move faster.
About you
You've cut your teeth on at least two great products that have been shipped and used by real people.
You've worked in a product team and at a startup.
You're obsessed with UI and think about design constantly, down to the spacing on a button.
You're excited about talking to users and getting close to the problem.
You have the drive to improve: you seek feedback and want to get much better quickly.
You're comfortable with numbers and can make a case from data.
You already use AI tools in your workflow.
Bonus: The best candidates will think like a Product Manager. You ask why before how, can scope a problem down to what matters, and have opinions about what to build next. We'll explore this in the interview process.
Progression
As AI changes how software gets built, the line between Design and Product is blurring, and this role sits right at the edge. You'll start by owning the Inbox experience and grow towards owning product decisions end to end.
We want people who could one day found their own company. Here, you'll get the reps to do it: real users, real problems in the NHS, and the freedom to work directly with our CEO to shape what we build.
The details
Salary: Competitive, plus equity.
Location: London, Stratford.
Working pattern: Four days a week in the office, with one day working from home on Wednesday.
A bit about us
💙 We’re all NHS staff. We’re inside-outsiders, trusted with one of the biggest datasets in the world.
🏥 Our office is within a GP practice. This is our unfair advantage. Got a question? Pop down the corridor. Want to learn how your work affects real patients? Pop downstairs to reception.
💪🏼 For most roles, we work four days in the office and one day from home. We highly prioritise in-person communication and prefer candidates who want to work four or more days a week in the office. Our anchor days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Homemade breakfast and lunch are on the house every day when you're in the office.
🌀 We work in growth cycles. Every eight weeks, we follow the same cadence: one week outside Business as Usual to research, strategise and plan, followed by seven weeks to deliver.
🤝 We’re highly collaborative. A high-trust team allows us to work autonomously, but we regularly lean on each other to solve problems together.
🤜🏽 We’re backed by industry leaders. We’re on the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator, backed by the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, Innovate UK and Y Combinator, and are winners of the London Business School Healthtech Challenge
