User Researcher

RMG Digital

London, Hybrid · £70,000

Are you passionate about uncovering the human stories behind complex digital experiences?

RMG, a specialist technology recruitment agency, is looking for a thoughtful and collaborative User Researcher to join a multidisciplinary consultancy team in London.

This hybrid role requires three days a week in the office. You will partner with Strategists, Designers and Engineers to transform how people interact with critical services.

In this role, you will champion user-centred thinking across a diverse portfolio of meaningful digital products. From refining customer journeys to redesigning essential public-facing services, your insight will directly influence project direction and product strategy.

If you thrive in multidisciplinary environments and enjoy turning rich research findings into actionable recommendations, this is an opportunity to make a tangible impact.

Key responsibilities

  • End-to-end research: Plan, recruit, conduct and analyse generative and evaluative research studies using methods such as usability testing, in-depth interviews, surveys and diary studies.

  • Translate insights: Synthesise complex qualitative and quantitative data into clear, compelling narratives, actionable user needs and strategic recommendations.

  • Multidisciplinary collaboration: Partner closely with UX and Service Designers, Developers and Product Managers to ensure user needs are considered alongside technical and commercial priorities.

  • Facilitate engagement: Lead collaborative workshops, research playbacks and knowledge-sharing sessions for diverse project teams and senior stakeholders.

  • Project ownership: Own research workstreams for targeted projects while contributing to wider strategic programmes and continuous improvement of team practice.

Required skills and experience

  • Proven experience conducting user research across the full product and service lifecycle in digital development environments.

  • Practical expertise using iterative research methodologies and collaborative tools such as Dovetail, Miro, Lookback or Optimal Workshop.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate research findings effectively, engage non-research stakeholders and translate insight into clear design decisions.

  • Experience working effectively in Agile, cross-functional delivery teams.

  • Existing right to work in the UK and eligibility to obtain UK security clearance.

Desirable experience

  • Experience conducting research in public sector or Government Digital Service environments.

  • Familiarity with wider UX, interaction design or service design practices and frameworks.

Why join

You will join an open, supportive culture that values research-led decision-making.

This role gives you the platform to tackle complex service-design challenges and see your findings actively shape digital experiences that genuinely serve their users.
