We are looking for a Middleweight User Experience Designer to help us improve the awareness, understanding and interest in App experiences at the Guardian. Your team will explore opportunities around our core apps, with an aim to offer readers the most engaging experience of our journalism and supporter proposition.
Our Product & Engineering department is organised into cross-functional teams that include product managers, scrum masters, researchers, designers, and engineers. These teams are passionate, innovative, take pride in what they do and have autonomy in how they do it.
About the Role
Aligning user experience activities across the organisation to inform decision-making and action
Work across discovery and delivery phases, exploring the needs of users across multiple channels
Engage in proactive, analytical and collaborative problem-solving
Adapt quickly, embracing new challenges and integrating new techniques and industry updates (iOS and Android)
Identify problems, present opportunities and test solutions
Build effective stakeholder relationships to align on objectives and initiatives
Clearly communicate and document your design process, explaining design decisions and welcoming feedback
Demonstrating a proactive and engaged interest in aligning your team's objectives with where the organisation is moving as a whole
Be comfortable using Figma as your primary tool for design and collaboration
Work alongside UX Researchers and be capable of conducting some research independently
Work within an agile product stream, collaborating with managers, engineers and designers
About You
Prior experience as a UX Designer, either agency or in house with a portfolio of previous projects to share
Proficient in Figma, from creating high-level wireframes to detailed prototypes
Experience working with content discovery experiences and designing for iOS and Android
Experience with Agile and Lean methodologies
An avid interest in consumer expectations within media technology
Comfortable in conducting collaboration and ideation activities with with senior technical, business and editorial stakeholders
Interested in the wider organisation and strategy of the organisation
Great communication skills
