The Role

Join us at the heart of innovation as a Product Designer within the dynamic Digital publishing team at Condé Nast. Powering an extensive network of over 65 websites, engaging 5,000 editors, and captivating hundreds of millions of monthly visitors, our tools and capabilities are the engine behind substantial digital revenue and brand experience. Our multifaceted teams are the architects of this success, crafting innovative software and technologies that drive excellence across our ecosystem. 

As a Product Designer, you will play a key role in shaping the user experience, visual design, and tool evolution for the Digital Publishing team. This involves working across a spectrum of critical components, including a robust multi-brand design system, an internal tool design system, a cutting-edge web framework, CMS solutions, publishing tools, user accounts, and advanced ads and commerce products. Your expertise will be instrumental in advancing our tools to new levels of innovation, with a focus on enhancing self-service capabilities, fostering user autonomy, and implementing intelligent publishing solutions.

What will you be doing?

  • Simplify ambiguous problems through strategic thinking and teamwork, ensuring clear understanding of goals and challenges.

  • Foster a collaborative environment 

  • Contribute to the development and execution of innovative problem-solving processes, ensuring an effective approach to addressing challenges and creating successful solutions.

  • Feed into product strategy, ensuring alignment with distinct user and business needs through sound questioning and problem-solving.

  • Collaborate closely with the product manager, design lead, project leads, and tech leads to transform initial  ideas into developed solutions, 

  • Collaborate with UX researchers and UX content designers to gain deep insights into user behaviors and complex user journeys, informing the design process with user-centric perspectives.

  • Craft user flows, prototypes, and visually appealing  designs for a range of experiences, supporting brand teams in creating captivating digital experiences, cover live events, publish compelling content, syndicate articles, track data, and much more.

  • Work closely with engineers in various locations to implement features designed by yourself, ensuring high-quality experiences.

  • Advocate for your ideas and solutions by presenting their impact and value

  • Use and contribute to our design system, Verso 

  • Be open to constructive feedback to aid your professional growth.

  • Advocate for the value of user experience design, research, and writing.

Who you are?

  • A portfolio that shows clear UX solutions, sound visual design, and user centric workflows

  • Understanding of Content Management Systems, WYSIWYG tools, editorial design, multi-brand design systems, all driven by product and design principles

  • Highlight experience in applying ideas and solutions to complex tools and capabilities for business-facing software 

  • Share experience in delivering large-scale web experiences with a focus on content publishing

  • Illustrate your experience in applying shared design patterns and systems to solve new and intricate user problems pragmatically, showcasing your ability to innovate 

  • Demonstrate familiarity with hypothesis-driven design, coupled with both qualitative and quantitative testing

  • Showcase a data-driven mindset in your design approach

  • Highlight your approach to framing and solving challenging problems, emphasizing a keen understanding of a range of design and research tools and methods

  • Experience with current web technology capabilities and limitations

  • Emphasize your confidence and enthusiasm as a collaborator and communicator, showcasing your ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams

  • Experience with, or a desire to learn how to work within a globally distributed team

  • Experience with creating and evolving user experiences that can be re-used  within a globalised company.

  • Examples of experience optimisation, evolution and improvement backed up with clear KPI’s and ROI

  • Knowledge of a range of UI patterns and the reasons for applying one vs another 

  • How you’ve considered thoughtful UI and micro-interactions

  • Your process for problem-solving (rather than just polished, final design work)

  • Varying types of design artifacts, and your sensibility of which design exercises meet a particular purpose

  • Coding ability is not a requirement, but welcome and encouraged comfort dealing with low-level system capabilities and the ability to participate in technical discussions are invaluable for this role
