Senior UX/UI Designer - Financial Risk Analytics

S&P Global

London, Hybrid 2 days in office

Summary

Financial Risk Analytics provides products and solutions that help financial institutions measure and manage market risk, counterparty credit risk, regulatory risk capital and derivative valuation adjustments.

Using advanced analytics and technology, including a fully vectorised pricing library, machine learning and a Big Data stack for scalability, our products and solutions are used by organisations ranging from the largest tier-one banks to smaller niche firms.

Our risk analytics solutions can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud or run as a service, freeing internal teams to focus on business priorities.

Financial Risk Analytics is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to join the London team and work on our evolving product suite across buy-side and sell-side risk. You will design products used by the world’s largest banks and financial organisations to manage billions in risk exposure.

This role involves data-heavy, end-to-end design. You will understand client needs and business goals, translate them into intuitive experiences, develop and maintain design systems, and build powerful prototypes for Developers, stakeholders and prospects.

Responsibilities

The Senior UX/UI Designer will work with Product, Technology, Support, Professional Services and client-facing teams to gather and analyse requirements. You will translate complex problems into robust interfaces that promote user-centred design principles.

This hybrid UX/UI role requires expertise across the product lifecycle, from discovery and research through to delivery and iteration. Working with the Director of Design, you will create high-quality UI designs that are clear, accessible, consistent and aligned with the S&P Global brand.

Close collaboration will be vital to your success. You will ensure designs are feasible, effectively implemented and optimised for the development resource available. You will be able to present and communicate design rationale clearly to stakeholders and clients, give and receive feedback constructively, and stay curious.

You will maintain and develop Figma prototypes that reflect the product roadmap, new features and concepts. You will support implementation and quality assurance by reviewing developed features to ensure they match the intended experience. Attention to detail is critical to our success and to the expectations clients have of our products.

You will explore the potential of AI-assisted design and development, including experimentation with Figma Make and Claude Code.

You will maintain and evolve the existing Financial Risk Analytics design system to support new features and technologies. You will promote accessibility by incorporating WCAG guidelines into designs and maintaining rigorous brand consistency.

You will work closely with Developers to support implementation, export UI elements and document wireframes. You will also review and test new features before release, conduct usability testing, identify and troubleshoot UX problems, and help refine requirements.

All employees are required to work from the office at least two days per week.

Required experience

  • At least five years of UX/UI experience; seven years is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience designing complex, data-dense enterprise or B2B products, including dashboards, analytics and workflows with extensive tabular or chart data.

  • Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience conducting usability testing and heuristic evaluations.

  • A portfolio demonstrating recent, relevant work across the end-to-end design lifecycle.

  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma for high-fidelity design and prototyping.

  • A practical understanding of web technologies and development feasibility, including CSS, HTML5, TypeScript and React.

Preferred experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in HCI, Design or a related field.

  • Experience in the financial industry, ideally in Risk Analytics, Buy Side Risk, Traded Market Risk, XVA, CCR, FRTB, portfolio risk, fixed-income analytics, securitised products, liquidity risk or managed risk-as-a-service solutions.
