Role Overview
We're looking for talented Business Analysts to join our growing team. As a Business Analyst at Mercator, you'll bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring our digital services deliver real value. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to gather, analyse, and document requirements, helping to shape services that meet user needs and organisational objectives.

What You'll Do
Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to understand and define business problems and user needs
Gather, analyse, document, and validate requirements from stakeholders at all levels
Create clear, concise documentation including user stories, process maps, data models, and requirements specifications
Facilitate workshops and meetings to elicit requirements and achieve consensus among diverse stakeholders
Support the development and implementation of digital services that meet user needs and business objectives
Contribute to the continuous improvement of services through analysis of user feedback and performance data
Help identify risks, dependencies, and constraints that might impact project delivery
Collaborate with developers, designers, and other team members to ensure requirements are understood and implemented correctly
Maintain awareness of industry best practices and methodologies, applying them appropriately to deliver value
Support the testing and validation of solutions to ensure they meet the defined requirements
Contribute to the wider business analysis community at Mercator through knowledge sharing and collaborative learning

Essential Skills & Experience
Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down complex problems into manageable components and identify key issues that need to be addressed
Communication Skills: Clear and effective written and verbal communication, with the ability to adapt your style for different audiences
Documentation: Experience creating clear, concise documentation such as user stories, process maps, and requirements specifications
Stakeholder Management: Ability to build relationships and gather requirements from stakeholders at different levels
Workshop Facilitation: Experience planning and facilitating workshops to gather information and achieve consensus
Requirements Analysis: Ability to gather, analyse, document, and validate requirements effectively
Collaboration: Willingness to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to group objectives
Digital Awareness: Understanding of digital services and technology concepts relevant to business analysis
Desirable Skills & Experience
Agile Methodologies: Experience working within Agile environments (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
Public Sector Experience: Previous exposure to working on public sector digital transformation projects
Business Process Modelling: Knowledge of process modelling techniques and notation (e.g., BPMN)
User-Centred Design: Understanding of user-centred design principles and how they apply to business analysis
Data Analysis: Experience analysing data to inform decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement
Requirements Management Tools: Familiarity with tools used for requirements documentation and management
Business Analysis Qualification: Formal qualification in business analysis (e.g., BCS, IIBA)
Service Design: Understanding of service design principles and how they relate to business analysis
