Role Profile
As a UX Engineer, You undertake the product design work independently and autonomously, by utilising deep knowledge of at least one product area/user community and advising less experienced members of the team.
Tech Profile/Essential Skills
Demonstrates knowledge of the design process.
Expertise in standard UX software such as Sketch, OmniGraffle, Axure, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer, and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
Problem solving - Defines a problem, generates solutions, and evaluates and identifies the best solution to overcome the problem.
Design craft - Mastering the methods and tools appropriate to specific disciplines (Interaction Design, Information Architecture, Interface Design, Motion Design)
Research craft - Experienced in planning and running research activities, ranging from usability testing to measurement of perceived usability/satisfaction. Confident in analysing insights, extracting themes and identifying opportunities.
Financial domain expertise - Knowledgeable of the Financial & Risk (F&R) product domain, terminology and workflows.
Project planning & delivery - Demonstrates the discipline of planning, organising and managing resources and activities to achieve specified outcomes within a clearly defined timeframe and standards.
Customer focus - Demonstrates a customer-centric approach to explore business challenges, developing tailored solutions and providing trusted advice.
Design standards - Successfully upholding and regularly contributing to the LSEG design standards (for example, interaction, visual, motion, typography).
Communication & collaboration - Communicating clearly, effectively and inclusively across the org. Proficient with different communication styles (for example, suggestive vs directive).
Preferred Skills and Experience
Five or more years of UX design experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing complex solutions for complete digital environments.
Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients.
A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design and design thinking.
Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.
Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders via a distributed model, to regularly deliver design solutions for approval.
Be passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.
Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
Education and professional skills
Any degree in the relevant field.
Solid English reading/writing capability required.
Good communication & articulation skills.
Curious about new technologies and tools, creative thinking and initiative taking.
Detailed Responsibilities
Holds accountability for the delivery of own autonomous work
Utilises deep knowledge of domains, products areas or user communities, advising and supporting junior members of the team
Contributes to LSEG design standards and onboards new members of the team to understand and meet the standards
Supports the creation and validation of new and innovative design solutions, and helps refine and improve existing designs
Runs research and product validation/measurement activities with limited supervision
Follows best practice and relevant design methodologies and processes, working across all stages of the product lifecycle from discovery, through define and to build.
Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
Facilitate the client’s product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products.
Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
Ask smart questions, take risks and champion new ideas.
