User Experience Designer II
The Trips team at Expedia Group is focused on creating a seamless and engaging experience for travellers across their entire journey. From sparking travel inspiration and collaborative trip planning to booking comprehensive travel packages and providing timely assistance throughout the trip, we’re dedicated to supporting travellers every step of the way.
Our mission is to make every aspect of the travel journey smoother, more personalised, and more complete for our travellers. This includes crafting multi-item trips by offering seamless pre-purchase shopping experiences and providing incentives to enhance and expand trips with additional items post-purchase to plan and book their whole trip with Expedia.
As a User Experience Designer II, you’ll be an integral team player, actively contributing to the development of high-quality design solutions for travelers across multiple platforms. Playing a key role in delivering impactful user experiences while continuing to grow your influence and expertise within the project team.
What you’ll do
Frame problems and opportunities clearly through analysis of qualitative and quantitative inputs, and customer and stakeholder perspectives.
Challenge the starting definition of a problem, ask why, clarify assumptions.
Build the habit of generating diverse, novel, workable concepts, and use different methods to identify ideas with the most potential.
Gain experience in facilitating idea generation with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrate solid understanding of common visual and interaction design principles and practice, and create appropriate sketches, wireframes, flows, design comps, and prototypes with guidance.
Help coordinate stakeholder input and collaboration efforts.
Learn to consider customer experiences more broadly by default and understand how to push on constraints to align structure, process and technology.
Use design system effectively and appropriately with some guidance and understand differences and similarities between design systems/platforms.
Create routine, informative communication materials explaining design thinking and decision-making rationale to team members and stakeholders.
Collect, process and act on design feedback constructively.
Consider the audience's specific needs.
Follow standard design and research processes and best practices under guidance.
Design explorations and solutions which are focused on customer needs, wants, and problems.
Value and apply existing customer insights from research to guide design decisions.
Who you are
Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience; Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience or related Design field or relevant experience is applicable.
2+ years of hands-on experience as a UX/UI designer, ideally across both web and mobile platforms.
Exceptional visual design skills with a keen eye for detail. Highly efficient, organized, and able to work seamlessly in an agile environment.
Solid understanding of core design principles, user-centered design methodologies, responsive design, and a mobile-first approach.
Proven ability to tackle complex problems strategically, delivering innovative and user-focused solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present and defend design decisions.
Ownership of project timelines, with the ability to accurately estimate time required for tasks and proactively communicate any timeline adjustments.
Experience working in cross-functional teams, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and communicate ideas clearly.
