It's been a little over a week since some of the team attended UX Brighton, featuring an excellent lineup including Tangity's Laura Dalrymple. The event explored how AI is reshaping UX—a space still very much open to us to shape. Here are a few key takeaways: Change as opportunity - Sharon Webster reflected on how the Arts & Crafts movement responded to industrial upheaval with focus on craft. Her call: do the same today. James Lang echoed this, showing how change invites experimentation. Empathy and curiosity remain core skills. AI is here to stay—its value depends on how we use it. Shaping our roles in the AI era - Oleksii Drozdenko shared a practical playbook for adapting as design teams. Kelly Dern demonstrated how the coding expands creativity and collaboration, encouraging many-shaped designers. Zachary Painter reminded us that progress comes from acting before the roadmap is clear—domain expertise and speed matter more than AI mastery. User centricity and reflection as our moat - Avinash Mair connected UX with economics, highlighting the importance of understanding wider systems and unseen impacts. Aadam Sümer emphasised that as AI products converge, UX becomes the real differentiator—driven by empathy and creative problem-solving. Laura Dalrymple closed with a reminder that reflection guides our direction and helps us shape intentional futures. As AI transforms our tools, human strengths—empathy, curiosity, experimentation—remain essential. The future is still ours to design.
