UX Brighton 2024: An Unforgettable Experience! Last Friday, I had the privilege of attending UX Brighton at the iconic Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival. This year’s theme on AI didn’t just dive into productivity—it sparked thought-provoking discussions on AI ethics, a crucial topic as we all navigate this evolving technology. Here are a few standout insights from 8 inspiring speakers: 1. Will Taylor – When adding AI to products, guide users with clear prompt boundaries. It’s essential to empower them to get the best outcomes. 2. Glenn jones – Effective UX means setting a context that mediates user experience. 3.Hannah Beresford – The shiny newness of AI won’t be enough. Human-Centered AI design is key to real engagement. 4. Manú Bartlett & Ewa Koc – Trust is foundational. Users will trust AI when: a. It explains why decisions are made, not just how. b.It’s user-friendly. c.It guides users on how to use it effectively. Pablo Stanley – AI is just a tool; understanding its risks lets us use it smarter. Philip Bonhard – AI can’t replace service design. Its success varies greatly depending on the user. Kwame Ferreira – Biases will always be present; the goal is to identify and use the right ones. my favourite of all of them; Maggie Appleton – In a world cluttered with bots and spam, let’s keep the human touch front and center.
