AI feels like a bit of a minefield at the moment, so I enjoyed getting some different perspectives on how UXers can use it from UX Brighton yesterday. Glenn Jones made some great comparisons with combustion engines when he shared his thoughts about chat UI design, and how our mindsets haven't caught up with the technology yet. Manú Bartlett and Ewa Koc shared some practical ways in which to build trust with AI powered products, while Philip Bonhard reminded us who's most likely to be after our jobs. Maggie Appleton talked about the expanding dark forest, and while scary this resonated the most with me. After all, AI is a tool and we need to learn how to use it effectively. She summarised this nicely: augment cognitive abilities, don't replace them. If you get a chance to listen to her, do! It was lovely to catch up with Julia Putnina, Chloe Langan, Julie Sun and Sophie Grencis - thanks ladies for the great company and thought sharing. https://www.linkedin.com/in/sharon-webster-ux/Sharon Webster
