My first time attending UX Brighton - and the timing couldn't have been better in this AI era. Here's what resonated with me: AI is about building new possibilities, not just automation. Zachary Rattner challenged us to have fun with AI - to actually build something, not just optimise workflows. Kelly Dern showed how vibe coding pairs design with AI while expanding our skills to become polymaths. Sharon Webster grounded us: in the rush to adopt AI, we can't lose sight of craftsmanship and the human touch. The shift from "AI will replace us" to "AI lets us create what we couldn't before" hit differently. We have agency in shaping what comes next. James Lang's "hopeful futures" reframed everything - it's not about asking permission, it's about choosing how we respond. How do I want to use AI in a way that aligns with my values? Oleksii Tkachenko put it perfectly: "What starts as survival can shape the next version of reality" So many practical takeaways on applying this mindset in the workplace. Laura Dalrymple showed that going from reflection to action means being flexible and building to our strengths. Strategy requires understanding the bigger system. Avinash Mair's economics lens showed how UX intersects with business risk and strategic decisions. Aadam Sümer brought a valuable VC perspective on design and AI, showing how investment thinking shapes what gets built. It's not just usability - it's understanding the systems we're designing within. Already applying it in small steps - shipped a fully functioning app with backend on GitHub this week. Not perfect, but it's real. Thank you to all the speakers and to Danny Hope and the UX Brighton team for creating this space. #UXBrighton #UXDesign #UXBriJanelle D. Tamayo
