We have created a great new opportunity for a trainee / intern to join our Innovation & Design Team on a 1-year placement where you will learn new skills and apply existing knowledge.      

An award-winning global customer research and design team made up of industrial designers, design researchers, human factors engineers and user experience designers, this group’s focus is on delivering compelling physical and digital product design solutions and performance-focused user experiences for the enterprise market.

As part of the Innovation & Design team, our designers are challenged to envision new products which solve complex problems, and which are carried into high-volume production.


Responsibilities

Supporting our team in the creation of digital assets (this is not physical product design) for Interaction and User Experience Design for mobile and desktop applications.   Our trainee / intern will learn what it means to be an integral part of a growing, global team that is involved in strategic and tactical projects.

A great learning opportunity, you will help to create required digital elements to bring design projects to life and into production!

A Day in the Life of an Innovation & Design Trainee

  • Icons - Creation of and preparing Icons for use by developers and marketing

  • Graphic design for Google Play Store - Creating screens for app previews as seen on the Play Store

  • Animation - Creating of loading animations for apps or storytelling animations for use in PowerPoint presentations

  • Talking to people in different countries

  • Participating in team collaboration to solve problems via workshops and brainstorms

  • Testing designs - Assist with the testing of designs to get feedback from users

  • App design - Creation of designs for Zebra apps.


Qualifications

We are looking for an outgoing and curious team player with a passion for thinking about people, and how they use Zebra products, like handheld scanners and mobile computers.  

You are either:

  • Looking for a year in industry placement from your Bachelor's degree in a design-related discipline. 

  • Looking for your first step into tech, you have A levels or a college qualification, preferably in a design-related discipline like graphic or product design.

 

This is a year-long paid placement July 24 -July 25. Please only apply if you can commit to the full length of the placement. 

  • Basic sketching skills are important, along with the ability to communicate ideas and concepts.  

  • Highly creative and detail-oriented with a passion for delivering work of the highest quality.   

  • Hardworking, self-motivated, and proactive; this is a great springboard opportunity into a career in design with a global technology leader.  

  • You do not need to be able to code!
