The Role

Condé Nast Technology’s News & Culture Brands group is looking for a Senior Product Designer, with a focus on the website and mobile applications for The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and WIRED. By partnering closely with design directors and leads, UX researchers and writers, product managers and engineering managers, as well as consumer marketing, audience development, and, of course, editorial, you’ll play an integral role in shaping the future of three of our most storied publications.

The Team 

This role will collaborate daily with the News & Culture product team based in New York, London, and Bengaluru, as well as the Art and Interactive departments within editorial and the global Condé Nast Product Design team.

 What will you be doing?

  • Receiving high-level design strategy and executing product implementation with a focus on asking the right questions, prioritising ruthlessly, and solving for distinct business (and user) needs

  • Exploring, refining, and delivering production-ready designs that are aligned with project goals

  • Translating qualitative and quantitative insights into product deliverables that move the needle for both business and user

  • Being a guiding voice in all design team and cross-functional rituals, and fostering an environment of mentorship and team allegiance

  • Advocating for, maintaining, and roadmapping the evolution of design systems

  • Daily collaboration and communication with partners collaborators who span geographies, time zones, product development phases, and beyond

Who you are

  • You have a passion for journalism and editorial products, and familiarity with the history, style, and values of The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and WIRED

  • Strong experience in shipping design work for consumer-facing digital products

  • BA/BS degree in design, a related field (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), or equivalent practical experience

  • A commitment to typographic excellence, and a sensitivity to the most minute details

  • Excellent  interpersonal skills and a habit of proactive communication, enabling effective collaboration and articulation of design concepts (and their business value) and implementation opinions

  • Experience maintaining a design system, and an understanding of when to create new extensible patterns

  • Excellent file hygiene and documentation skills that align stakeholder imaginations and enable engineering to deliver speedily

  • Proficiency working on distributed cross-functional teams, strategically partnering with product managers and engineers

  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of mentoring and guiding junior designers
