Who we’re looking for

We are seeking a highly experienced UX & Design specialist to lead our team of four practitioners. You will be responsible for overseeing and hands on creation of integrated client experiences across all digital touch points including websites, mobile applications, client portals and partner platforms.   In possession of an empathic ability to collaborate with and effectively influence a range of stakeholders across the firm, you’ll lead the scaling and delivery of industry leading experience design across markets.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We’re close to our clients, in the heart of the UK’s financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.

The team

Working within Client Technology (within Group Technology) your role will make up part of the Leadership team comprised of Delivery and Engineering Leads. The services provided by UX & Design are available to all parts of the Schroders business and it will be your role to funnel and prioritise demand. 

What you’ll do

You will be responsible for the successful application of Schroders’ UX & Design capability to help solve real customer and business problems primarily through digital solutions. From your experience you’ll know how to get the most from your team of UX Designers and Researchers and ensure that solutions are informed by data, insight, best practice and creativity. 
From day-to-day management to longer-term strategic planning, you will work with business stakeholders to ensure that our UX & Design services are appropriately deployed within an agile delivery framework. You will be responsible for driving the culture of the team fostering a passion for continuous improvement. 


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evolving the design Process: Setting best practice for user centred design and constantly seeking to improve the design process.

  • Continuous improvement: Expert in promoting a process improvement culture, actively developing and promoting tools and techniques to support the delivery of high quality digital experience

  • Team leadership and management: Responsible for the day to day and longer-term planning of team responsibilities and priorities

  • Coaching and mentoring: Drawing from your extensive experience you will be adept at supporting those in your team and other stakeholders on the application of user centred design

  • Project and resource planning: You will be required at times to lead your team and groups of stakeholders through all stages of project delivery from ideation through to deployment

  • Partnership: Collaborate with and maintain relationships with working teams across Digital, Distribution and Marketing

  • Supplier management: Actively responsible for the third party tooling utilised by the team looking for opportunities to develop existing relationships with suppliers and identifying new innovations 

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • People management: Proven track record of leading teams including team planning and budgeting, objective setting, performance management and coaching. Must also be able to function as a project leader who can resolve diverse interests as well as make a personal contribution.

  • UX & Design experience: Recognised as the expert in UX design for responsive web and native mobile. Has deep expertise in solutioning and manages relationships with senior stakeholders. Produces high-quality user flows, wireframes, diagrams, proto-types and other visual design deliverables.

  • UX Research: Experienced in the application of a range of research methods include and data analysis.

  • Adept at managing complexity: Have led large scale and complex projects with that have the highest digital impact and add most business value. Consults with and makes recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Evaluation of systems: Expert at performing heuristic evaluations of systems. Makes recommendations for improving systems based on established user experience standards.

  • Software Development Life Cycle: Expert in software development comfortable working with developers, product, marketing and technology to implement products and services that meet client and business requirements.

  • Agile Scrum team participation: Serves as a member of multiple Agile scrum teams.

  • Accessibility: Knowledge of accessibility and designing accessible patterns in web and mobile. Helps to define accessibility standards and ensures that design choices and patterns are optimised for accessibility from preliminary concepting through final design.

  • Stakeholder management: Expert in managing the needs of multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Excellent communication: Knowing when and how to communicate key messages in a digestible way to complex stakeholder groups. 

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help

  • Strategy: Some experience of working on the development of strategic plans would be beneficial

  • Financial Services: Knowledge or experience of working within the financial services industry or more specifically asset management would be an advantage.
